Patrick Musel Executive Pastry Chef & Co-owner of Praline Bakery & Restaurant Bethesda, MD For Patrick Musel, Executive Pastry Chef and co-owner of Praline Bakery in Bethesda, MD, creating edible slices of heaven fulfills a life-long dream. At the tender age of six he would observe pastry chefs working in shops; his face pressed in awe to the window, watching how sweets seemed to bring sheer joy into other people’s lives. Since then, Musel has channeled his passion into an impressive career in the art of pastries. His past work includes establishments such as Filomena in Georgetown, Sutton Place Gourmet, and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Laguna Hills, CA where he served as Executive Pastry Chef. In addition, both Musel and fellow Praline co-owner Susan Limb had the distinct honor of working under pastry maestro Roland Mesnier at the White House. At Praline, Musel and Limb strive for a simple and classic pastry style that focuses on high-quality ingredients blended together in perfect balance. The shop is fashioned in a true Parisian style and is filled with light and a feeling of warmth. Chef Musel continues to live out his dream as he watches his delectable creations put smiles on faces.
We tantalized your taste buds in October with a tempting Walnut Dacquoise from Praline Bakery & Restaurant in Bethesda, MD. This traditional French pastry features a creamy layer of walnuts, butter cream and pastry cream sandwiched between a soft, mouth-watering meringue. Topped with almonds, this nutty delight is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. We also included some extra treats just for our sinners. Have you ever had a truffle? Maybe you think you’ve had a truffle. Just wait till you try this truffle. The center is a light whipped chocolate ganache made with fresh cream and then hand dipped in Belgian dark chocolate. Last but most important, cookies are for kids, right? Not these cookies! First try the Lemon Drop cookie, with a tangy lemon glaze on top. This lemon cookie will melt in your mouth and make you think of the last days of summer, sitting on the front porch bathed in a special golden light. And then we’ll leap into fall with a Pumpkin and Golden Raisin cookie covered in a rich cinnamon glaze. This cookie will get you ready for the holidays and make you think of a warm rich pumpkin pie coming out of the oven. We hope you enjoyed October's Sin of the Month!
