Sin Of The Month

chef toni srour small.jpgDear Subcribers, it is only right and fitting, we believe, that we bring to you in this particular month, three truly delicious, gorgeous, and gourmet Spoonfuls of Sin from the hands of Chef Toni Srour of The Pastry Xpo in Merrifield, Virginia.  What does the month of August have to do with it, you may ask?  Well, we might answer, it is simply that the word "august" itself means "something that inspires admiration and awe," according to our dear friend, Mr. Webster.  And that definition certainly suits everything in the magnificent 25' cherrywood showcase at The Pastry Xpo.

FAQs

What Does "A Spoonful of Sin" Cost, and What Will I Receive?

The cost is $17.95 per month plus tax and delivery, which runs about $7. Total cost will be about $24.95 per month plus tax.

Each month, a different pastry chef will create a special dessert for us here at A Spoonful of Sin. It will be enough for you to enjoy, and possibly share but most of our sinners don't!  You will also receive an information card about the chef and his/her restaurant, should you care to visit it for the whole dining experience.

Where are the desserts made?

The desserts are made in the chef's kitchen. This could be a restaurant or a catering facility, depending on where the chef works.

Are the desserts fresh?

Yes! We ship the desserts from the chef's kitchen to your door.

What if I want more?

Good, we hope you do. Each dessert is delivered with contact information and a special offer from the chef. You'll know how to get more of each fabulous dessert, now and in the future!

How do you select your chefs?

This is the best part of the job, although our hips would disagree. We taste test our chef's desserts before extending an invitation to be one of our tempters.

Are your chefs exclusively from Washington DC?

We are for now, because we have so many talented pastry chefs in the area. We're a new business, and we want to make sure we have all our ducks in a row before we start expanding into other cities.

How many points is this for Weight Watchers?

Zero points. In fact, we recommend that you never even mention this to your counselor.

What about allergies? I am allergic to certain foods.

Then I'm afraid you probably shouldn't be one of our sinners. We cannot accomodate individual food allergies, etc.

Are you going to expand into non-fat or low cholesterol desserts?

Good grief no. Then it wouldn't be a sin, would it?  Everything we offer is horribly, horribly bad for you in large quantities.  That's why we only offer a spoonful.

To What Areas do You Deliver?

We ship throughout the United States.  We do not ship internationally.

How are the Desserts Delivered?

Local sins (Washington DC) are cheerfully hand delivered by our partner, Morningside Courier.  The desserts are beautifully boxed, surrounded by cold packs, and then placed in insulated packaging. Then we all dance around the boxes and do a little shimmy.  Our drivers have all received a free sin, so they are in a very good mood when they arrive with yours.

Sins outside the DC area are shipped via DHL.  A cheerful, energetic, good looking driver will appear with an inordinately large box for such a small sin.

For best results, we strongly encourage you to arrange to receive your subscription either at an office or at an address where someone can sign for it and bring it right inside. The dessert should be unpackaged and refrigerated (or consumed!) as soon as possible.

Do You Deliver on a Specific Day?

You can expect your "Spoonful of Sin" during the last week of each month unless there is a holiday that week, in which case we figure out what works best.  We deliver on Tuesday-Wednesday, It is a known fact that sinfully delicious things are best eaten in the middle of the week. Really.

Will you include a list of ingredients (for people with allergies)?

We do include a description of the desserts, but if you have food allergies, then you would probably be safest not subscribing to our service. Regrettably, trace amounts of nuts and other allergens can sometimes make their way into products despite the best and most careful efforts of everyone involved.

May I Cancel If I am Dissatisfied?

Absolutely; you can cancel at any time. However, if you cancel, we hope you will take a moment to email us and tell us why. We want our product and service to be the best, and your comments will help us improve!
